Lạc Kiên
Category: Accessories
Competitions: Vietnam
Lạc Kiên is an artwork which is inspirated by a kind of Vietnamese antique accessory named Vân Kiên. Based on definition of Vân Kiên, Lạc Kiên retains the characteristics of a type of cloak worn with traditional clothing such as Ao Dai, Ao Ngu Than Tay Chen (antique Ao Dai with 5 pieces and tight sleeves), Ao Tac (antique Ao Dai with 5 pieces and wide sleeves). However, in terms of shape, while A was inspired by clouds by ancient Vietnamese people, B has been modified by me using the image of Chim Lạc—a bird symbolic of the Dong Son bronze drum civilization, one of the earliest civilizations of Vietnam. For this product, I only used the most basic techniques I learned at the workshop organized by the program, along with learning from the videos sent by the competition's support team. By participating in this competition, I want to challenge myself and learn new techniques in the leatherworking field to further my passion for fashion design.
