As a Malaysian student currently pursuing fashion and design studies in Taiwan, my creative practice is rooted in a multidisciplinary exploration of garments, art, and philosophy. I do not view bags or clothing merely as functional products; instead, I perceive them as a canvas for the mind, where the structural logic of material meets the fluid imagination of painting. My design philosophy originates from a deep curiosity about human nature and the internal states of existence. I am particularly drawn to the intersection of psychological depth and physical form, using leather and textiles to manifest the unseen "folds" of the human experience. To me, creating a leather piece is an act of translating abstract philosophical inquiries into a tangible, structural language. By integrating the organic essence of leather with an avant-garde aesthetic, I strive to explore the metabolic transformation between the wearer and the object. I am currently dedicated to experimenting with unconventional construction methods and material narratives. My goal is to challenge the traditional boundaries of leatherwork, treating every creation as an evolving dialogue between survival states and individual adaptation. This journey represents my commitment to discovering the limitless possibilities that emerge when conceptual tension is grounded in the honest logic of craftsmanship.

Dancing Within Constraints

The relationship between a calligrapher’s characters and the nine-fold grid serves as a profound allegory for the human condition and our place within the world. In the journey toward mastery, a calligrapher eventually transitions to Xing-shu (running script). At this mature stage, the brush appears to move with absolute spontaneity, discarded of the visible scaffolding. However, this perceived liberation is an illusion; the rigid discipline of the grid has long been internalized. The fundamental laws of the art are etched into the artist's very marrow. Even the most seemingly wild and unrestrained strokes are governed by an underlying order—an inescapable, invisible framework that constitutes the "rules behind freedom." This mirrors the trajectory of human growth. We begin our lives navigating the explicit boundaries of childhood—clear "boxes" defined by authority and tradition. As we transition into adulthood, we revel in a sense of perceived autonomy. Yet, maturity reveals a more complex reality: we are bound by a secondary layer of "invisible grids." These are the social, moral, and existential constraints that quietly dictate our every step, often leaving us with a sense of helplessness despite our outward liberty. The ultimate challenge of existence, therefore, is not to break the frame, but to master it. We must ask ourselves: how can we achieve a state of harmony and dance with grace within these invisible boundaries? True mastery lies in transforming these constraints from a prison into a stage for our most authentic expression.
