My name is Tran Phat Tai, an 18-year-old designer from Vietnam and currently a freshman majoring in Fashion Design at Nguyen Tat Thanh University. Born and raised in a country with a profound cultural heritage, I have always been captivated by the seamless rhythm between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics. In Vietnam, leatherworking is more than just a craft; it is a transforming art form that reflects our culture's creativity and vibrant vitality. My design philosophy focuses on honoring these ancestral values while meeting the modern global fashion demands for minimalism and functionality. Participating in this prestigious leather design competition marks a significant milestone in my journey. It provides a unique platform for me to demonstrate how traditional Vietnamese motifs can be reimagined through the medium of premium cowhide. For me, this competition represents a bridge between East and West, between heritage and innovation. I am eager to contribute my personal perspective to the international community, proving that leather—a timeless material—can be woven into a narrative of modern luxury. The dominant navy blue—"Lam Sắc" (Azure Hue)—does more than evoke the aesthetic of classic glazes; it symbolizes inner depth and the profound stillness that precedes a breakthrough, much like the calm surface of water before a powerful wave. Crafted on premium cowhide leather, the intricately carved motifs of carps, dragon scales, and flowing water unfold like a continuous narrative: a journey from hardship to glory. Every detail breathes with the soul of craftsmanship, reminiscent of the hands of ancient ceramic artisans whose every layer of glaze held both passion and faith. These shoes are, therefore, not merely a fashion item but a cultural icon—where tradition is "clothed" in a modern silhouette.
