KATERINA PASCHALIDES RLSD CONTEST

Category: Accessories

Competitions: International

Coming from a country rich in textile tradition, I chose to emphasize the importance of craftsmanship in the form of weaving. In this case, I have used 100% leather to form leather cords which have been woven into the fabric. I have worked together with artisans, researching different textile weaving techniques, to find the ones most suitable for this type of usage. The leather cords used are of diameter 1.5mm, and are interwoven together with 100% cotton threads to create the desired pattern. This competition is important to me, because it enables me to showcase ways as to how leather can be used in non traditional methods, within fashion. In addition, as I am a firm believer that no outfit is complete without accessories, I have chosen to accompany my garments with a pair of custom made, 100% leather sabot mules in two different colours, and a vase bag, again out 100% leather. All accessories have been made in Italy.
