I am an engineer turned designer and craftsperson whose desire to work with his hands and develop unique and beautiful products has led him to develop his first bag and accessories collection. My designs draw on my personal inspiration, try to avoid current trends, and use natural materials as much as possible. From February until June 2026, I attended the bag-making course at the Schola Academy in Florence, Italy, being taught leather craft skills by artisans from Scuola del Cuoio.

Along The Highland Coast - The Braid Bag

Category: Accessories

Competitions: International

This collection - Along the Highland Coast - was developed for the final project of the Bag Making course at the Schola Academy in Florence. The course is taught by artisans from Scuola del Cuoio and an industry Footwear & Accessories Designer, Alessio Invidiato. The project brief was to research, develop and create a capsule collection of bags and accessories that reflects my own individual style and vision, whilst demonstrating the both the design and leather craft skills learnt during the 20-week course. The inspirations for my collection came from my memories of growing up in a coastal highland village in Scotland. The collection serves as a homage to the landscape, environment and people of the Highlands demonstrated through the colour palette, design details such as the netting and braided handles, as well as the material choice of Harris Tweed and vegetable-tanned cow leather.
