RE.ORD

Competitions: International

Addressing the ecological threat of traditional leather production, caused by toxic chromium tanning and high-emission industrial inefficiency, the collection, RE.ORD, offers a sustainable alternative by upcycling leather waste into high-durability outerwear. RE.ORD combines "re" for repurpose and "ordnance" for high-durability military supplies built to withstand the harshest environments. Utilizing the inherent strength of its source material, the collection breathes new life into leather waste by upcycling it into modern, trendy, long-lasting outerwear. Inspired by World War II U.S. Army Air Forces (USAAF) pilot culture, the collection comes from historical aviator patches and epaulets. These patches utilized graphic lines, aircraft motifs, and emblems to foster a sense of brotherhood and commemorate successful survival in battle. The design concept fuses this historical military heritage with contemporary sustainability, translating the aesthetic into a trendy, futuristic unisex style. The primary materials used are discarded leather waste and scrap pieces, which are transformed using a specialized design technique centered around fabric construction, classic leather jacket tailoring, and panel construction. The resulting silhouettes feature bold silhouettes inspired by the World War II USAAF patches, mirroring the functional, warmth-retaining flight jackets worn by historic airmen. The theme of the collection revolves around resilient utility and ecological rebirth, transforming military-grade durability into modern, eco-conscious ready-to-wear fashion. RE.ORD strategically targeting the premium market in Indonesia, specifically catering to eco-conscious men and women aged 20 to 50 living in major urban centers like Jakarta. Falling into the middle-upper to upper social-economic status, these individuals are outgoing, considerate idealists who practice sustainable living and actively engage with environmental campaigns. Their lifestyle involves frequent fall/winter travel and social events, aligning with their preference for autumn and winter fashion collections. In terms of shopping behavior, this demographic prioritizes sustainability over price, heavily researching products online but preferring to buy offline to ensure quality, always seeking brands that mirror their personal ethics.
