Footwear & Accessory Design BFA

Accessories, Bags, Boots

I have just graduated in Accessories Design at the European Institute of Design (IED) in Milan. In the past years I have explored the field of accessories, gaining insight in both design and production. Even if the course has been mainly oriented to footwear and leather bag design, I had the chance to be introduced to some very niche areas of fashion such as eyewear, small metal parts, gloves, hats and belts design. My design is characterized by the constant research of new shapes, translating them into functional pieces of garments. Doing this, I consider my designs to be wearable sculptures by mixing art and practicality. With a focus on the quality of the materials and the realization process, my aim is to create a slow fashion brand of life-long leather goods.

: Mutation BOOTS :

Category: Footwear

Competitions: International

This piece is part of my BA project "Mutazioni". The collection aims to narrate the struggle for survival of bodies, once human, that find themselves having to inhabit a hostile environment. Their limbs are thus afflicted by deformities, mutations, and anomalies. These boots, crafted from buffalo leather, embody a design that captures the essence of body mutation, accentuated by the presence of four side embossed pockets that mimic an enhanced muscular structure. The diagonal orientation of the main zipper orchestrates the spiral cuts of the leather, dictating the strategic placement of the pockets, thus enhancing the overall dynamic aesthetic. The base is sealed with a Vibram sole and sheathed in liquid black waterproof rubber. The leather surface showcases a gradient effect, meticulously hand-painted with black acrylic that fades from the bottom upwards. All the zippers incorporated are the high-quality "Excella" from YKK, ensuring both functionality and refined polish. Central to these boots is their dual purpose: function and aesthetic. The pockets are capacious enough to substitute for a small bag, offering practical storage solutions. Moreover, the development involved extensive experimentation with leather cuts and the arrangement of components, reflecting a deep commitment to innovative craftmanship.

MUTAZIONI - multi ((4)) bag

Category: Accessories

Competitions: International

This piece is part of my BA project "Mutazioni". The collection aims to narrate the struggle for survival of bodies, once human, that find themselves having to inhabit a hostile environment. Their limbs are thus afflicted by deformities, mutations, and anomalies. Crafted from calf leather, this bag embodies a design inspired by the organic, mutated shape of a kidney. This modular accessory, consisting of four detachable units, offers versatile wearability: each unit functions independently as a standalone side bag or can be integrated with the others, allowing a customizable arrangment. Every unit is padded to ensure the bag maintains its sculptural form even when empty. Particular attention has been devoted to the creative process behind this piece: it all started with the envisioning of a shape, that has been first created with paper and subsequently translated into a functional leather accessory. The creative journey was marked by numerous trials, refining the shape and the leather cuts to discover the most harmonious and functional design.
