Buckinghamshire New University

I am a student at Buckinghamshire New University. I study BA fashion design. For me, my area of interest is sustainable fashion in particular up cycling. This is a core in most of my designs. I believe its important to reuse as much waste to prevent it ending up in landfills.

To meet the criteria of 50% cattle leather, I decided to weave leather throughout the jacket, with the collar being made from leather. I designed a jacket for the high street but sustainably processed by turning cattle leather from post production waste into strips at 3cm tall. To keep the weight down I thus added calico strips at 3cm tall.
