This project, titled Numb Bloom, explores the internal state of emotional numbness—when feelings are no longer clearly perceived or expressed. Rather than disappearing, emotions are understood as being preserved in a different form within the individual. The design primarily utilizes natural leather, a material derived from life and known for its durability and longevity, symbolizing the preservation of time and experience. Felt elements are incorporated as subtle accents, representing the softer and more delicate aspects of human emotion. The contrast between materials reflects the tension between an outwardly structured exterior and an inwardly vulnerable emotional state. The form of the piece draws inspiration from a flower as a symbol of emotion. Through visual elements such as fragmentation, expansion, and erosion, the bag transcends its function as a wearable object and becomes a physical manifestation of an internal condition. Cracks and stitched details suggest both the rupture and quiet repair of emotional experiences, allowing traces of feeling to remain. By combining craftsmanship with conceptual design, this work also responds to themes of sustainability and circular thinking, emphasizing the long-lasting nature of leather and its relevance in contemporary design. The project seeks to explore how material can serve not only functional purposes, but also as a medium for emotional expression.
