I am a Vietnamese fashion design student currently studying garment design. My interest lies in the relationship between design ideas, silhouette, materials, and practical use in contemporary fashion. My design process usually starts from observation and research, which allows me to develop ideas in a clear and considered way. In my academic projects, I work with a structured approach, focusing on consistency between concept, material selection, construction, and final presentation. I tend to favor clear silhouettes and controlled details, avoiding unnecessary decoration. I have my own aesthetic perspective and see artistic creation as a way to explore and communicate design ideas. I consider fashion to be a balance between aesthetic thinking and technical execution. Through design competitions, I hope to continue improving my design thinking, technical skills, and gradually define my personal direction.

This project is inspired by the bamboo dragonfly toy and the Vietnamese folk saying “Chuồn chuồn bay thấp thì mưa, bay cao thì nắng, bay vừa thì râm.” The concept comes from observing dragonflies in rural rice fields, where their flight patterns are closely connected to weather changes and everyday life. These small observations became the foundation for developing the overall design direction. The design translates the image of the bamboo dragonfly into light silhouettes, balanced proportions, and gentle structural lines. Layering and spacing are used to suggest movement, air, and rhythm, rather than literal representation. Materials are selected for their natural texture and flexibility, reflecting the simplicity and handmade quality of the traditional toy. Construction techniques are kept clean and controlled to support the concept without excessive decoration. Throughout the project, emphasis is placed on clarity and coherence between concept, form, and execution. Each design decision is guided by the intention to maintain balance, lightness, and restraint. The project aims to reinterpret a familiar cultural symbol in a contemporary fashion context, while respecting its original meaning and emotional connection to rural landscapes. Through this approach, the design seeks to communicate a quiet narrative that feels both personal and culturally grounded. It also reflects a learning process shaped by research, trial, and adjustment, allowing ideas to evolve naturally during development, while maintaining consistency and intention. The project represents an exploration rather than a conclusion, leaving space for further refinement and future interpretation within contemporary fashion practice and personal design growth.
