The hole, the ripped and torn, the memory of a life that has worn this skin before. A memory of a culture of leather goods, handmade by artisans, where this skin was reused after eating the whole animal, not caring how luxurious it was. A memory that has been forgotten by the mass consumption of leather goods. This project aims to reuse the torn and tattered pieces of leather that are not profitable for the industry, putting them in the spotlight and creating a visual that highlights the beauty of these shapes and marks created by history itself. To highlight the handicraft and cultural practices and communicate them with an expressionist approach. The culture of the Bombo Leguero in South America and its craftsmanship with recycled leather. Turning a skin into a sound, into a memory. The connection with this project remains in my Argentinean roots and my passion for folklore music. Using the body (cilinder) of the South American instrument Bombo Leguero, I create a poncho that allows you to recover the leather textiles not used in the normal production to enhance the beauty of the uniqueness of the garment. Depending on the thickness of the garment, this piece can be used to protect against the cold or as an alternative to T-shirts in summer.
