Ling Tung University

I am a student from Ling Tung University majoring in Fashion Design. I have always been passionate about sewing and design, and I enjoy expressing creativity and attention to detail through handmade work. For this leather competition, I chose to challenge myself by exploring a new area I had never tried before—shoe design. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and learn new techniques. To me, shoes are a unique fusion of functionality and artistry. Creating a design that is both practical and visually appealing was my main goal. I applied my knowledge of pattern making and color coordination from fashion design to this shoe project, combining the texture and layers of leather to develop a piece that reflects my personal style. This experience has taught me a lot and sparked my interest in working with different materials and expanding my design boundaries. I hope to continue pushing myself and growing in the fields of fashion and design.

This slipper design takes the anatomical structure of the human foot as its core inspiration, exploring the boundary between functionality and aesthetics while rethinking the relationship between footwear and the body. Drawing from the spatial logic of the tarsal and metatarsal bones, the design reconstructs skeletal language through layered leather and precise contours, revealing a visual tension between natural support and dynamic extension. Rather than simply mimicking biological form, the design reflects a deeper philosophy: footwear as an extension of the body itself. Each pair appears to be born from the sole, embodying the wearer’s movement, weight, and daily traces. By fusing anatomical aesthetics with minimal linework, the design challenges visual habits associated with everyday objects, encouraging the wearer to rediscover the intimate connection between foot and footwear. This is not merely a functional object, but a design translation shaped by bodily language—transforming the shoe into an active extension of the human form.
