Shih Chien University

Hi, I’m Hsu Ting-Wei from Taipei, Taiwan. I’m currently a sophomore majoring in Fashion Design at Shih Chien University. I’m passionate about the fashion industry and full of enthusiasm for creative work. To me, leather is a material that is both strong and capable of expressing softness—it holds endless possibilities. I especially love garments that flow gently while maintaining a defined silhouette; that balance between structure and softness is what inspires me most. 《紅殼》Red Carapace

Category: Apparel

Competitions: Taiwan Region

This work draws inspiration from the fairytale character Little Red Riding Hood, reimagining her not as a helpless girl, but as a symbol of transformation and inner strength. Traditionally portrayed as innocent and fragile, Little Red Riding Hood is often depicted as someone waiting to be rescued. In this design, however, her journey toward resilience is visualized through form and material. The soft, layered red dress, reminiscent of delicate scales, represents her vulnerability and sensitivity—a second skin shaped by past wounds, yet still capable of feeling. This inner garment is encased in a structured, armor-like outer shell, symbolizing the courage and selfhood she forges through adversity. It is a story of evolving from weakness to strength, told through texture, silhouette, and contrast.
