During a holiday trip to Italy, I was deeply captivated by the harmonious coexistence of classical culture and Baroque art within the ancient city of Rome. Exploring the majestic Roman Colosseum, a timeless symbol embodying both glory and brutal spectacle, I immersed myself in the fierce and untamed spirit of the gladiatorial era. Through extensive research, I uncovered how gladiators were revered as icons of strength, unwavering confidence, and fearless resolve. Their distinctive armor, the ferocious beasts they battled, the imposing architecture of the arena, and the harsh control imposed by rulers all became rich sources of inspiration for me. These elements vividly reflect the societal attitudes toward violence and the complex values tied to this intense form of competition. Drawing from this profound historical narrative and reflecting on the contemporary challenges faced by women globally, I am inspired to design a series of high heels that embody these timeless qualities — strength, confidence, and fearlessness — celebrating female empowerment in the modern world.
