Dong An college

My name is Nguyễn Đức Tài, I’m 19 years old and currently a third-year student majoring in Fashion Garment at Dong An High-Tech College. I first learned about this competition through the introduction and encouragement of my teacher, Mr. Lê Minh Phú. I’m really excited to have the opportunity to participate, challenge myself, and gain new experiences. I believe this competition is not only a meaningful but also a healthy and inspiring playground for students.

Thiên Long Hộ Tự

Category: Accessories

Competitions: Vietnam

From the familiar lines of an ancient temple roof, where time seems to settle upon each tile, the design is formed as a way of preserving cultural memory through a modern visual language. The image of the temple is not merely architectural, but also symbolizes peace, spirituality, and one’s roots. Encircling this space is the figure of the dragon, “Thiên Long.” Rather than being depicted as fierce or aggressive, the dragon appears soft and fluid, coiling into a closed circular form as if in protection. This curve represents continuity and the endless flow of culture, never lost but constantly transforming through time. The combination of the dragon and the temple creates a balanced relationship in which the dragon embodies strength, sacred power, and the aspiration to rise, while the temple represents stillness, foundation, and spiritual depth. When placed together, they do not oppose one another but instead complement each other, just as humans need both inner strength and peace to truly exist. Leather, a material known for its durability and the way it gains character over time, becomes the medium to bring this design to life. As time passes, the bag is no longer just a functional object, but a carrier of personal traces, reflecting the journey of its owner in the same way cultural heritage is passed down through generations. This design is not simply a bag, but a piece of culture carried alongside the individual. It serves as a reminder that no matter how far one goes, there is always a place to return to, not only in a physical sense, but also within the depths of one’s spirit.
