Design and Marketing

My name is 郭玟萱, and I am currently studying in the Department of Fashion Design and Marketing at Shih Chien University, Kaohsiung Campus. I have a strong interest in garment construction, sewing, and various forms of handicrafts. Whether it’s embroidery, knitting, or fabric flower design, I enjoy exploring creativity and the beauty of detail through handmade work. I believe that craftsmanship not only brings warmth to design but also communicates unique stories and aesthetics. Through hands-on courses and personal projects, I’ve developed a sensitivity to materials and patterns, and have gained experience in completing design pieces independently. Moving forward, I hope to continue refining my skills and expressing my ideas through designs that carry both storytelling and commercial value in the field of fashion.

Seismic Fault

Category: Accessories

Competitions: Taiwan Region

The inspiration behind this design comes from the natural phenomenon of fault displacement caused by earthquakes. The irregular, uneven lines at the bag’s opening represent the shifting of tectonic plates and the dramatic tension created when the Earth’s crust fractures under pressure. This visual expression echoes the power of natural changes and symbolizes the unstable relationship between human society and the environment. The form conveys a sense of rupture and movement, drawing attention to the ongoing transformation of our planet. The design combines strong structural lines with delicate handcraftsmanship, emphasizing both the emotional warmth of handmade work and the conceptual depth of sustainable thinking. It aligns with the core values of slow fashion by integrating environmental awareness into its functionality. The detachable components allow for multiple uses, extending the product’s life cycle and reducing material waste. By merging the visual language of natural disasters with sustainable fashion principles, this piece reflects a thoughtful response to environmental issues. It aims to go beyond mere aesthetics and encourages a deeper conversation about design’s role in ecological responsibility and long-term change.
