Dong An College

Hello everyone, my name is Le Thi Minh Hue, I am 18 years old and currently a third-year student majoring in fashion design at Dong An College. I am very happy to participate in this competition. Although my experience and knowledge in this field are still limited, I will always try my best because this is my dream and my passion.

Velmoth

Category: Accessories

Competitions: Vietnam

Velmoth is a combination of two seemingly unrelated inspirations: the moth and the Japanese kimono obi. First, the moth — unlike butterflies that fly toward sunlight, moths navigate using the moon and the stars. This makes me think about people: we don’t always have a clear light to guide us, but we can still move forward by trusting our inner beliefs. Therefore, Velmoth represents resilience, mystery, and inner strength. In addition, the bag’s design is inspired by the obi, an essential part of the kimono. It helps shape the outfit, keeps everything neat, and at the same time serves as an artistic focal point. The obi is not just an accessory, but also a symbol of elegance and discipline in Japanese culture. By combining these two elements, Velmoth is not just a bag, but a symbol: Soft and mysterious like a moth’s wings, Yet structured, neat, and refined like an obi. Moreover, both the moth and the obi carry positive meanings in different cultures — representing transformation, good fortune, and hidden beauty. This is also the message I want to convey: Even in the dark, everyone can shine in their own way.
