LING-HSU CHENG

Shih Chien University

Thanks for reading this bio, I am Iris! enrolled in the department of FDM(Fashion Design Merchandising)at Shih Chien University, Kaohsiung. My design approach centers on the interplay between nature and culture, using these elements to craft unique narratives. I view leather as a living medium that carries its own history and texture. Through the RLSD competition, I aim to honor the raw beauty of natural materials while merging traditional inspiration with modern aesthetics to explore the future of sustainable fashion.

Elongo

Category: Accessories

Competitions: Taiwan Region

In the long history of human civilization, leather was never just a material choice it was a part of nature that humans relied on to survive. For the Maasai people, the Elongo (Shield) is not just a tool for hunting, but a symbol of their spirit. By creating this bag, I want to return to the very beginning of how leather was used. It is a reminder of the ancient value of leather: a material that connected our ancestors to the earth, and one that still holds a vital place in our modern lives.
