Paulina Mokhothu Founder & Creative Director, Tlhokomelo | Volunteer CEO, Leather Articles Entrepreneurs Association | Organizing Secretary, Leather Apex Society of Kenya* I am a fashion designer with a background in social work, deeply passionate about advancing leather craftsmanship in Kenya and across Africa. I view leather not just as a material, but as a transformative tool to combat poverty by equipping and empowering semi-skilled communities—especially women and youth—through dignified, sustainable work. As the Founder and Creative Director of Tlhokomelo, my brand promotes eco-friendly leather manufacturing, artisan collaboration, and community development. Each handcrafted piece we produce reflects a blend of African heritage, modern design, and environmental consciousness. Beyond the brand, I serve as the Volunteer CEO of the Leather Articles Entrepreneurs Association and the Organizing Secretary of the Leather Apex Society of Kenya. I am also spearheading the formation of Kenya’s first leather goods cluster** in partnership with the Ministry of Industrialization, Trade and Industry—an initiative aimed at strengthening local production, innovation, and regional trade. My work is driven by a commitment to sustainability and social impact. I believe fashion should not only celebrate culture and creativity but also serve as a platform for economic empowerment and responsible production. Through every design, I aim to weave purpose, sustainability, and African excellence into the global fashion landscape.
