Hello, my name is Yuhan. I am the Department of Crafts and Design at National Taiwan University of Arts, with a focus on metalwork and ceramics. I’m also passionate about exploring various materials and forms of expression. I have a deep love for nature and often draw inspiration from the phenomena found in the natural world.

Lumen Algae

Category: Design*

Competitions: Taiwan Region

This piece is a kinetic desk lamp inspired by the rhythmic breathing and organic form of algae in their natural environment. As vital agents of photosynthesis in aquatic ecosystems, algae exhibit subtle yet dynamic movements that often go unnoticed. Nevertheless, their presence is essential for maintaining ecological balance and embodies a quiet, natural beauty. Through the integration of light, shadow, and kinetic mechanisms, this lamp emulates the gentle swaying and breathing rhythm of algae in water, transforming these "overlooked natural details" into a perceptible part of everyday life. It aims to infuse a corner of the home with elements of nature, rekindling awareness and imagination toward the micro-ecology and our relationship with the environment.
