Macalester College

I’m a recent Studio Art graduate with a concentration in sculpture and design, where I developed a strong foundation in form, material, and aesthetics. I recently completed a training program at Scuola del Cuoio in Florence, where I learned traditional leatherworking techniques and the art of designing and crafting leather goods by hand. I also have experience working in the leather handbag industry, where I gained insight into both production and brand identity. I’m passionate about creating pieces that merge function with sculptural beauty, and I’m excited to further grow my skills, refine my voice as a designer, and contribute to the evolving world of leather craftsmanship.

This leather bag collection explores the intersection of natural form and metallic ornamentation, where hand-shaped leather structures meet the shimmer of vintage coin accents. Drawing inspiration from antique discoveries and the tactile richness of timeworn objects, the designs incorporate coins as both adornments embedded in the leather and as charms suspended from metal chains. The collection plays with contrast—soft, organic silhouettes are paired with the weight and polish of metal. Each bag becomes a wearable relic, merging the feel of something unearthed with something newly made. The use of coins nods to histories of value, trade, and memory, transforming the bags into modern heirlooms that feel personal and storied. At its core, this project is a study in material harmony: the warmth of natural leather and the cool touch of metal in dialogue, creating pieces that are both functional and expressive.
