Real Leather Stay Different

Category: Apparel

Competitions: International

Hello my name is Kamera Burgess and I'm entering the "Real Leather Stay Different Challenge." For my inspiration, I was the drawn of both lower and upper parts of Egypt Ancient. Egypt has an history of many different variations of the use of leather. Such as, the footwear, wrist-protectors, armour, and chariots as decorations. During the old kindom of Egypt, leather was mostly made for sheep, gazelle, cow-hide , crocodile, and elephant. The New Kingdom however, they used mineral dypes to color leather. With wide sort of colors like blue , red , green, and gold. The most important clothing worn my Egyptians women are the "Kalas" is symoblized as protection. In my version, I used the "Kalas" as cape attach on the back of her golden leather armour to make it more dramatic. That last thing I wanted to incorporate is the blue linen fabric as a "Kalas" cape. Linen in Ancient Egypt is the most common fabric thier is, they used for decorations, furniture, mummies, and clothing. The color blue is very important for the Egypt Egyptians. It consider to be the oldest synthetic pigment ever made and it's symbolize both the sky and the Nile River.
