Hong Ngoc Duong

Hanoi University of Science and Technology

Hello, my name is Duong Hong Ngoc. I am twenty-one years old. I am from Ninh Binh, Vietnam. I am a third-year student at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. My major is Fashion and Leather Design. I really like design. I enjoy exploring materials and learning from traditional culture for modern fashion. My short-term goal is to improve my skills and gain practical experience. My long-term goal is to become a fashion designer who combines culture with modern style. I am creative, careful, and patient. Sometimes I spend too much time on small details, so I am learning to manage my time better. I can work well alone and also in a team. Sharing ideas helps me learn more. At university, I have done many design projects. I learned how to research, develop ideas, and make products. I am responsible, eager to learn, and serious about my work. I believe I can bring new ideas and positive energy to your team.

Echo Drum – Heritage Rhythms in Modern Design The Echo Drum project is inspired by the "Trong Com" (Rice Drum) – a traditional musical instrument that carries the soul and echoes of Vietnamese folk culture. With its iconic cylindrical structure, the product represents a sophisticated intersection between cultural heritage and contemporary fashion language, creating an accessory that is both symbolic and highly functional for daily life. The project steadfastly pursues the "Slow Fashion" philosophy by selecting materials with a sustainable lifecycle. The main body is crafted from premium genuine cow leather, a material that lasts for decades and develops a unique patina over time, increasing its aesthetic value with age. The strategic combination of leather and canvas was carefully calculated to optimize market accessibility while fully preserving eco-friendly characteristics: it is biodegradable and leaves zero microplastics. Every detail of the Echo Drum, from the antique brass hardware to the ethnic-patterned strap, is chosen to celebrate the refinement of manufacturing techniques. This project goes beyond creating a long-lasting product; it conveys a message of connection between the past and the present, encouraging a responsible lifestyle that treasures long-standing cultural values through a fresh and modern appearance.
