The collection is developed from my visit to Khai Dinh Mausoleum a site where the art of ceramic mosaic reaches its peak in both technique and aesthetics. The “Four Noble Plants” relief panels, with their shimmering surfaces formed from countless broken pieces of porcelain and ceramics, create not only a striking visual impact but also evoke a deep cultural narrative. The contrast between fragmentation and wholeness became the foundation of my design concept. The garments are built upon the silhouettes of the traditional costume, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. A fitted upper body with a high, closed collar is combined with layered long panels to create fluid movement, preserving traditional essence while embracing modern structure. Leather is chosen as the primary material, deliberately contrasting with the fragility of ceramics. Techniques such as engraving, raised surface construction, and texture manipulation are applied to recreate the relief effect of ceramic mosaics. Embroidery and embellishment further develop this handcrafted surface, where motifs of apricot blossom, lotus, chrysanthemum, and pine are sculpted in relief and arranged along the garment like a visual flow. Ceramic buttons act as a direct material connection to the original mosaic medium, while weaving techniques and fringe details soften the overall composition, adding movement and balance. Through this collection, I aim to tell a story about Vietnamese women gentle in appearance yet strong within. Like broken ceramic fragments, they move through different phases of life, and through reconstruction, become a deeper and more enduring form of beauty. Bộ sưu tập được phát triển từ cảm hứng khi tôi ghé thăm Lăng Khải Định nơi nghệ thuật khảm sành sứ đạt đến đỉnh cao về kỹ thuật và thẩm mỹ. Những bức phù điêu Tứ Quý với bề mặt lấp lánh, được tạo nên từ vô số mảnh gốm sứ vỡ, không chỉ gây ấn tượng thị giác mà còn gợi mở một chiều sâu văn hoá. Sự đối lập giữa cái vỡ vụn và tổng thể hoàn chỉnh đã trở thành nền tảng cho ý tưởng thiết kế. Trang phục được xây dựng trên các phom áo truyền thống, nhưng được tiết chế và tái cấu trúc theo hướng hiện đại. Phần thân trên ôm gọn, cổ cao kín, kết hợp với tà dài tách lớp nhằm tạo chuyển động, giữ được tinh thần truyền thống nhưng mang hơi thở đương đại. Chất liệu chính là da, được lựa chọn như một sự tương phản với sự mong manh của gốm sứ. Trên nền đó, các kỹ thuật khắc, tạo hình nổi và xử lý bề mặt được áp dụng để tái hiện hiệu ứng phù điêu của khảm sành sứ. Những chi tiết thêu và đính kết tiếp tục phát triển bề mặt này theo hướng thủ công, trong đó họa tiết Mai, Sen, Cúc và Tùng được tạo hình nổi, bố trí dọc thân áo như một dòng chảy thị giác. Cúc áo bằng gốm đóng vai trò như một chi tiết kết nối trực tiếp với chất liệu nguyên bản, trong khi kỹ thuật đan và tua rua giúp cân bằng lại tổng thể, tạo sự mềm mại cho trang phục. Thông qua bộ sưu tập, tôi mong muốn kể một câu chuyện về người phụ nữ Việt Nam dịu dàng ở bề ngoài nhưng mạnh mẽ bên trong. Giống như những mảnh sành đã từng vỡ, họ đi qua những giai đoạn thăng trầm, để rồi khi được “tái cấu trúc”, lại trở thành một vẻ đẹp sâu sắc và bền vững hơn.
