Shih Chien University

My name is You-Jia Fu, a student at Shih Chien University. Through my studies, I discovered a strong passion for design, especially in exploring the connection between themes and design elements. I enjoy selecting and combining fabric patterns to create meaningful and cohesive designs. I am someone who never gives up easily-I always commit fully and work hard until the very end.

Re:Collected — A Reconstructed Second Skin

Our lives are a constant cycle of being sorted, recycled, and reassembled. Every emotional collapse and identity shift feels like an old version of ourselves being dismantled, packed away, and reshaped into someone new. This piece centers on the concept of an unfinished definition — a reflection on how we never truly become one fixed identity, but continuously evolve over time. Inspired by the layered structure of stacked cardboard boxes, it explores the idea that even at 23, 1 still carry the versions of myself from ages 1 to 22. Each layer holds traces of memory and identity - fragments of the past I have yet to discard. Here, clothing becomes more than fabric that covers the body. It is a process of piecing, mending, and reconstructing — a second skin that breathes, embodying the ever-changing self that remains in progress, not yet fully defined.

WHAT YOU DISCARD TURNS INTO GRACE.

To me, faith is a quiet force that accepts emotions without judgment. Rather than seeing deities as distant and almighty beings, I think of them more like “emotional trash bins” — silently collecting our anxiety and vulnerability, without criticism or rejection. I transformed this idea into a bag design, inspired by the fusion of a temple palanquin and a trash bin. The body of the bag resembles a palanquin, symbolizing the presence of divinity by your side; the lid mimics a trash can cover — an outlet for emotional release. It is a vessel of faith: a place where you can “throw in” your inner turmoil, and “carry out” a sense of peace.
