NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF DESIGN

Apparel design

Womenswear, Haute Couture, Embroidery

My passion for design is deeply rooted in the rich customs and traditions of my home country, India. I am a maximalistic and experimental learner, always seeking to explore various customs, textiles, traditional costumes, and crafts from different places and drawing inspiration from them. Furthermore, I am highly motivated to continuously expand my skill set and knowledge. I am a apparel designer from the prestigious National Institute of Design in Gandhinagar. Prior to this. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design from the United World Institute of Design in Gandhin where I gained an in-depth understanding of the workings of the garment industry. To further broaden my knowledge, I also completed a year-long certificate course in Fashion E-Business Management from the esteemed National Institute of Fashion Technology in Delhi, which exposed me to the marketing aspect of the industry. During my academic journey, I had the privilege of undertaking internships at fashion labels Purvi Doshi and "Yav. These invaluable experiences allowed me to work on upcycling projects involving waste fabrics, fueling my interest in zero waste construction and the upcycling of unwanted materials. In addition, I have participated in several design competitions, securing top positions and accolades such as winning the Pepe Design London Student Edition Competition for designing garments from used unwanted denims which cannot be even donated to any other person, being selected for the World of Wearable Art, and receiving the Most Innovative and Best Theme awards in the Miss India Khadi Design Competition. I have also achieved first position in the Chal Dhal Inter College Competition and numerous other competitions, which have helped me grow both as an individual and as a designer. I am a team player and have undertaken multiple group projects academically and non-academically. In one such project, a group of six designers and I redesigned the uniform of ONGC organization, and also. I created a system, Vastransh, in collaboration with multiple organizations and volunteers to collect, segregate, repair and redistribute unwanted clothes from people from different social and economic backgrounds. I aim to work with an organization that focuses on upcycling recycling waste management so that I can contribute my expertise and optimistic behavior to help reach a larger audience and promote sustainable and affordable living without letting any valuable resources and up in landfills. Aim to open a Brand, a timeless and conscious fashion label committed to fostering conscious consumption. With a focus on preserving resources and preventing waste, we create garments of intrinsic value, designed to be cherished by multiple generations. We believe in full transparency, providing insight into our sustainable production processes to meet the demands of environmentally conscious Millennials and Gen Z. As consciousbrand, we will prioritize informed choices that do not harm people or the planet. Every decision we make, from selecting sustainable materials to employing ethical practices, aligns with our core values. Our garments will be crafted with exceptional quality and durability, ensuring longevity in design and craftsmanship. We will envision our creations as cherished heirlooms, passed down through generations, accompanied by memories and stories. Beyond the initial purchase, we encourage mindful ownership and will offer resources for responsible disposal or repurposing when a garment no longer serves its owner. Our goal will be to revolutionize the fashion industry and inspire others to embrace sustainable practices. Brand will empowers individuals to make impactful choices through their purchases, fostering a fashion industry that is both stylish and sustainable.

Vastraansh ( part of your wardrobe)

Category: Apparel

Competitions: International

In the enchanting world of Bollywood, where stories come to life on the silver screen, there is a timeless saying that echoes through the ages: "The show must go on." Inspired by this profound wisdom, my sustainable leather collection, named "Vastraansh,"(Part of you wardrobe) draws inspiration from the iconic film "Circus." It embodies the essence of resilience and adaptation, reminding us that despite the challenges we face, the world continues to spin, and we must forge our own path. The heart of Vastraansh, lies in its unique materials. It is crafted from an unexpected source – small letter waste generated by industries that, if left unattended, would end up buried in landfills. These discarded fragments are given a new lease on life, uniting together to form laser-cut squares. Each square serves as a building block, interconnected through a clever mechanism, allowing them to transform into cubes and assume the desired form. Every garment within the collection draws inspiration from the captivating elements found in the world of the circus. The intricate laser hatching on the leather squares mimics the whimsical patterns of clowns, the graceful movements of circus animals, and the astonishing agility of gymnasts. These designs pay homage to the rich tapestry of the circus, capturing the magic and nostalgia associated with this enchanting world. But the true beauty of Vastraansh, lies not only in its design but also in its versatility. The small square elements that make up each garment can be effortlessly detached by the wearer, providing endless possibilities for creative exploration. The consumer becomes an active participant in the design process, empowered to reshape and repurpose the squares in various permutations and combinations. Vastraansh, transcends the boundaries of traditional apparel. Its innovative design allows for the transformation of these squares into an array of products beyond clothing. They can be assembled to create stylish bags, woven together to form exquisite mats, or even fashioned into accessories that complement one's personal style. The collection invites individuals to reimagine their possessions, encouraging sustainable practices and minimizing waste. In essence, Vastraansh, is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the boundless potential of sustainable design. It symbolizes the transformative power of creativity and reminds us that even the smallest actions can make a significant impact. Through this collection, I aim to inspire others to embrace change, to see waste as an opportunity, and to join me on this journey towards a more sustainable and circular future. With every square that is repurposed, with every design that is reimagined, Vastraansh, whispers a gentle reminder that we possess the ability to shape our world. By participating in the competition, I hope to not only showcase the ingenuity and craftsmanship of this collection but also to ignite a spark of inspiration that will encourage others to embrace sustainable practices and create a world where the show truly does go on.
