Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art

Fashion Design BFA

Apparel, Womenswear, Installation Art

I am a 23 years old fashion designer, artist and 3d artist from Tel Aviv, Israel. I began my BA in fashion design at Shenkar college right after high school and now finishing. During my studies I specialized in many fields as tailoring, concept creation, leather craft and more. I started studying 3d programs on my own during studies and this became a big part of my creations in the fashion field from 3d fashion to 3d printed clothes. I am also an artist creating installations. I take inspiration from philosophy, film, music, the human experience, emotions, and everything that creates a deeper experience with our subconscious. During my studies I have won both FIDA animation award and Arts of fashion competition.

Have I Dressed Myself Correctly?

Category: Apparel

Competitions: International

The biker jacket I am presenting was made as part of my graduation collection at shenkar college. The graduation collection explores the physiological and the visual aspects of getting dressed nowadays and what the three variables; body, dress and mirror are causing to one's mind in context of today's world? What happens to one's mind when trying to decide on an attire, the aim to create a perfect image framed in a mirror, the objectifying of self, and the dissonance created between the actual self and the ideal self. The questions we deal with at these moments like who I am, what I am supposed to represent and project, who I want or fear to be- and how this creates a disorder in our natural being. When trying on clothes we are bringing up multiple selves with every garment, and this moment stretches through past, present and future, and creates an overlap of selves. I explored the feelings of loss of identity, visual distortions, dissociation and depersonalization people reported to feel when getting dressed. The jacket is a part of a bigger concept and theme, but also on itself it represents the aesthetic and concept. It is an oversized, broad shoulders biker jacket made out of sheep black leather with handmade brown washed-”stains”. It includes fine black lining, three pockets and high quality zippers. The jacket is filmed with two more leather garments from the collection- a Veg Tan leather sculpture of a female body, wrapped around, and a black sheep leather bag featuring laser cut numbers (inspired by Michelangelo PISTOLETTO FRATALLI, 1999-2000 as part of the collection research and concept)
