Rada Shoes Limited

My name is Twebaze Frank from Uganda, i am an employee at Rada shoes compony limited, i do pattern designing, product forecasting and shoe production. As a shoe maker i was inspired by my friend collins who used to make sandles that were very nice to me, later i went to kampala to learn shoe making in RADA shoes where i obtained shoe making skills later i joined shoe making TRAINING workshop at Management Training Advosory Center (MTAC) kampala in 2022, at MTAC i gained skills of pattern drafting of all types of shoes. I started making all shoe fashions a cording to what customer wants such as moccasin, cowboy boot, Oxford gentle shoes among others. Curently, i continued my studies at Makerere Institute of socisl development center studying Diploma in Business Administration and i pay my tution from shoe making as my career.

hybrid boot

My project is called "the hybrid boot", I was inspired by cattle ranching in South western Uganda where they keep cattle for milk and hides, where different breeds of cows are reared, that is exotic breeds local breeds and hybrids from cross breeding of both. I became very inspired and tried to design a boot that is having both colors of cattle, bihogo cow in our Runyankole language in Western Uganda, Not only that they get milk and beef but also they get hides an sale them to business people for leather turning, leather is sold to manufacturers leather and produce products such as shoes, bags belts among others. This hybrid boot is having many parts such as brown collar at the top of quarters representing Hereford cattle, quoters, toe cup and vamp represents Aberdeen Angus cattle. It's sole is pure rubber welted well and scored with three half soles, that is, Brown at the top, white in between and black down. this make the sole to have the features of the upper shoe. I used full grain leather which is Eco friendly to the environment, sustainability , durability, comfortability and beauty purposes. I also added black elastic on side part of a shoe for easy to put in comfortably.

Designing of a sustainable mountain boot

PROJECT TITLE: Designing of a sustainable footwear product. Anew footear product which is both stylish and sustainable , designing of original boot that is suitable for walking and climbing in mountains, confortable in all weather conditions. Designing requirments: cow leather of different designs , black lastic, Linning(rexin) , eyelets, shoelaces, Insole (Texon) white gum, glue bond and Pure rubber sole. Designing considerations: Original pure leather is concidered in order to make the product durable that can last for atleast 5 years, this boot design can walk in all weather conditions . AETHETICS: Use of black and brown cow leather(bora) to make the boot looks very nice and attractive , designs that conveys Rwenzori block mountains and Rift vally in western uganda.
