Sensitive Content | Lee-noy Cohen I'm a young and aspiring designer, exploring issues such as: censorship, human bonds, sexuality and taboos. In my design process, I focus on silhouettes and clean lines. I find my self-expression mostly in drapping and forming fields. My collection deals with Self-censorship. Censorship resulting from the search and study of the enigma that is human nature - uncensored, wild and untamed . The “other self”, alter ego, the" dirty " soul in the polished body. The inspiration for the project came from my life experiences growing up in a traditional home where sexuality is taboo. Art was used as an ”excuse “ to explore dark, sexual, blunt and provocative worlds. The project draws inspiration from the worlds of photography, art, and fetish. Referring to artists such as Robert Mapplethorpe, Gaspar Noah and more. In my collection I played with sexuality and how it can be presented, explicitly and implicitly. I used leather as a sexually-associated material for the most basic item of clothing- the classic t – shirt. For me it was important to incorporate humour, I mimicked a human gesture, holding one’s testicles, portrayed by the t- shirt combined with the glove holding the skirt. The whole look is made off of soft leater, timeless, sexual and long lasting material. The collection consists of genderless clothing presented by men due to their world of sexuality being more culturally restricted and defined yet intriguing to the female eye. The collection is avant-garde , giving emphasis to silhouettes, volumes, and shapes. The colour palette is dramatic, dark and contrasting. The collection presents a combination of materials- leather, metal, plastic, etc.
