CASBAH ARCH Contemporary Derby Oxford Inspired by Algerian Architecture Casbah Arch is a contemporary Derby Oxford shoe that transforms the architectural identity of Algeria into a wearable luxury product. The design draws inspiration from the historic arches, geometric patterns, and decorative latticework found in the Casbah of Algiers and traditional Islamic architecture. The upper features laser-cut perforations based on authentic geometric motifs, creating a balance between cultural expression, breathability, and visual elegance. These perforations reduce material weight while enhancing airflow and comfort. The distinctive arch-shaped heel element serves as both a structural component and a symbolic reference to the architectural arches that define Algeria's heritage. Crafted from premium vegetable-tanned calf leather, the shoe combines durability, comfort, and timeless aesthetics. The construction incorporates a leather welt, memory foam cushioning, and a durable rubber outsole to ensure long-term performance while maintaining a refined luxury appearance. Sustainability is a core aspect of the project. The design utilizes responsibly sourced leather, recycled brass components, eco-friendly adhesives, and recyclable packaging. Every material was selected to maximize durability and extend product lifespan, reducing waste through a "buy less, use longer" philosophy. Rather than simply decorating a shoe with cultural symbols, Casbah Arch integrates heritage directly into its structure and function.
