BLOOMING is a three-bag leather collection that renders three real flowers in suede. Rather than abstracting a flower into a logo or motif, each bag recreates the actual form and texture of its flower The corners of the leather are folded and pleated to sculpt the petals, while soft matte suede and hand-applied speckling capture the surface of the petal itself. The collection consists of three bags, each built around one flower: Celosia — the most ornate, its ruffled, brain-like folds recreated in pleated leather (burgundy to mint) Orchid — a wide, open bloom, grounded and tactile (black to yellow) Tulip — the simplest, a clean closed cup (burgundy to yellow) A defining feature of the collection is its surface. The soft, matte texture of the suede becomes a canvas for expressing the texture of a petal. Each body is hand-rendered with detailed petal speckling, the freckled, spotted gradients found on real flower petals such as lilies, orchids, and pansies, layered over a two-tone gradient that echoes the natural color shifts within a single petal, from its deeper base to its lighter edge. The detachable handle reinforces this versatility. When it’s removed, the bag becomes a pure sculptural object. When it’s attached, it becomes a functional accessory. This lets a single object live as multiple designs, directly celebrating leather’s strength, flexibility, and adaptability. At its heart, the collection carries a single message. An animal is born and dies, and in passing it leaves behind its hide and that, to me, is the same idea as a flower in bloom. A life giving way to a new form of beauty. BLOOMING is conceived with commercial life and longevity in mind , built from natural suede and brass, with a modular handle system that supports repair, reuse, and a long product life. It reframes the handbag as a small still life, a flower, captured in leather, that can be carried.
