Leather, an ancient, durable, beautiful and malleable material, gives a warm, noble, wild and animal feeling. With the development of technology, a variety of artificial leathers have been created--synthetic materials such as PU leather, PVC leather or new in recent years, vegetable leathers such as pineapple skin. The sustainability, humanism and animal rights of all types of materials have been the subject of much attention from all quarters. This has led me to some personal reflection. Animals and plants are inextricably linked in the natural food chain, the carbon cycle, decomposition and production. By using 'the animals which eat plants' as a material to represent and simulate 'the plant as food', the relationship between the two is inverted to show the carbon and energy cycles. The plant absorbs nutrients and becomes food for the animal, whose skin and flesh are used by humans and eaten by other animals, and eventually decomposed into nutrients for the plant. In this design, I have used mainly cowhide and wool. Using these two as carriers shorten the cycle and allow for a more direct expression of 'plant-animal-plant'.
