With excessive exploitation and pollution of the oceans by humans, the marine ecosystem is deteriorating rapidly, leading to the loss and even extinction of numerous marine flora and fauna. Vibrant and beautiful coral reefs are vanishing at an alarming rate. Upon realizing that discarded footwear is also a significant source of pollution in the dire state of the marine environment, I drew inspiration solely from marine organisms. Combining this with biodegradable materials in 3D printing technology and leather, I designed these shoes with a focus on the most frequently worn-out and discarded shoe soles, in conjunction with leather materials. The detachable shoe sole can be easily replaced, and the use of biodegradable materials ensures minimal environmental pollution when the shoe soles are discarded. I also hope to use this as a call to action, urging people to cherish the environment and protect the oceans.
