My project explores a personal journey through three cocoons, each representing a stage of inner transformation. Inspired by the imagery of a butterfly’s cocoon, the work examines the tension between confinement and release — where one must confront emotional wounds, self-doubt, and internal limitations in order to grow. Among them, the second cocoon becomes the central focus of my exploration. It reflects the period when I entered university, facing increasing insecurity, hesitation, and internal doubt. This stage embodies a constant tension between the desire to change and the fear of stepping beyond my comfort zone. The image of hands reaching outward, striving to tear through the cocoon, symbolizes the urge to break free and reclaim agency over oneself. The pieces are crafted from genuine leather to emphasize both materiality and emotional depth. The wrinkles, folds, and surface marks of the leather act as metaphors for pressure, scars, and transformation over time. Through form, structure, and material manipulation, I aim to articulate this phase of inner conflict — where vulnerability is no longer a weakness, but the starting point of growth and change.
