Strideprint——步影

Category: Footwear

Strideprint Walking is the most common yet most overlooked form of exercise - we take thousands of steps every day, but we never truly "see" the exertion of our feet within those steps. This design views shoes as a step-motion imaging machine: as the foot lands, starts, and pushes off, the shoe's surface undergoes systematic deformation, making the invisible exertion process readable and visible. This "rigid structure deforms with the body's movement" logic is derived from the segmented armor and leather armor (cuir bouilli) techniques in the history of armors. The main body is made of tanned leather - it will naturally form creases and patina at the repeatedly bent areas as it is worn, imprinting each person's unique gait over a lifetime. The leather laminates slide with the foot's flexion, and the load-bearing areas are connected by recyclable metal pivots. It becomes more readable and beautiful as it is worn, opposing the "discard after five wears" of fast fashion with "time value addition". A shoe that records walking is itself an answer to natural, durable, and biodegradable.
