Category: Accessories

Coffee plantation in kenya originated in 1932(robusta). Kenya was the main source of raw material in the British industry. The British saw an opportunity to cultivate due to red volcanic soil and also the high altitude in our land. It gained importance for small holders contributing to a shift in ownership dynamics. In this project I created a coffee bag in honour of its full body, complex flavour and also the honour to appreciate the coffee pickers who used to walk a hundred miles to take their coffee to the market while enduring the harsh labour and climate. The bag is also designed to appreciate how farmers carried coffee beans as they were in large volume and receiving low wages.I used leather because of its durability, longetivity and also sustainability. Due to its good flavour, coffee is a major global commodity in the society supporting millions of people with jobs in the developing countries it's also solve a solution in the society as biofuel and construction materials which assist in the environment. I used lampskin leather for the coffee bean bag due to its smooth and soft nature whereas the coffee pickers bag I used the lambskin leather, jute material as a representative of how the coffee is packed after manufacturing and also cow leather due to its firm and roughness.
