ARMOR OF PEACE
Category: Apparel
In a direct challenge to the disposable nature of modern fashion, this collection champions the longevity, beauty, and circular potential of real leather by utilizing deadstock cattle hides. By rescuing this premium, overlooked byproduct surplus, the design actively combats industry waste from the very start. Inspired by the rugged construction of a Spanish Civil War military bag, the project explores the intersection of historical trauma, industrial heritage, and contemporary silhouettes. Through meticulous research, toiles, and form documented and altered, the historic bag is reborn. By subverting the archetype, the bag is structurally turned upside down, yet remains fiercely loyal to its original proportions and utilitarian functions. These features are translated into two striking, ultra-durable apparel looks featuring a camisole, skirt, and mini dress. Composed of these saved materials, these pieces are designed to be loved for a lifetime, to age beautifully with the wearer, and to ultimately be repurposed.
