Retie the memory

Category: Accessories

This design focuses on slow fashion and sustainability, with heritage as its core concept. Sustainability extends beyond materials and processes to include the preservation of emotions, culture, and values, serving as a way to safeguard memory. Inspired by my grandparents’ respect for clothing, occasions, and etiquette, my grandmother’s sewing background gave her a refined sense of fabric texture and practicality, often choosing soft silk scarves or handkerchiefs. My grandfather, from the aquaculture industry, always wore a tie to formal events, sometimes adorned with a gold dragon pin, and valued grooming with a comb. I aim to create pieces that my grandparents could confidently wear and that our generation can comfortably style, bridging memory and contemporary aesthetics to make wearing a form of intergenerational dialogue. Using durable leather combined with my grandmother’s preserved silk scarves, along with metalwork and functional design, I crafted a leather tie and scarf that serve as both accessories and vessels of memory.
