Using completely second hand waste leather, I created this look drawing inspiration from material cultures of leather - communities fostered by the deviant connotations of leather: Clib kids, bikers and queer subcultures such as the BDSM scene - transported into a high fashion setting, playing around with the idea of restriction, empowerment and alienation. I aimed to draw focus to the importance of slow craft, taking time to develop textile processes and garment construction with a responsible / sustainable design process throughout.
