Sensitive Content- SINS | Lee-noy Cohen One of my standout pieces in my graduation collection is a leather garment that encapsulates my exploration of self-censorship and sexuality. This piece draws inspiration from my life experiences growing up in a traditional home where sexuality is taboo. The garment reflects the "other self," the alter ego, and the "dirty" soul in a polished body. The leather garment is a reimagined classic T-shirt, using leather as a sexually-associated material to challenge conventional norms. The design incorporates humor, mimicking a human gesture of holding one’s testicles, portrayed by the T-shirt combined with a glove holding the skirt. The entire look is crafted from soft leather, emphasizing its timeless, sexual, and long-lasting qualities. The garment was created using the techniques of vacuum forming and free draping to form the gloved hand and skirt. This piece plays with the presentation of sexuality, both explicitly and implicitly, drawing inspiration from the worlds of photography, art, and fetish. Artists such as Robert Mapplethorpe and Gaspar Noé have influenced the design. The garment is part of an avant-garde approach, with a dramatic and dark color palette using leather to create a bold unique statement.
