Lightly

The design was inspired by my grandfather, who was diagnosed with cancer last November. In the early years he was actually a very fat man, often cheerful, and I always thought he could beat time until I went to visit him in hospital - the thin hospital gown was as wrinkled as his arms, hanging silently on this old, shivering skeleton, and with a sudden loss of strength, I saw time slipping through my hands like silk. I looked at my grandfather's shrivelled body and wondered quietly if time would fly away as gently as he did the day he too became as light as the wind. The whole design uses the patchwork of fabrics to show how the passage of time changes the human body.
