The Arthropette Bag

Category: Accessories

The Arthropette bag features a teardrop silhouette inspired by the striped abdomens of insects like ants and bees. The stripes running across the bag are not just for aesthetics; they serve a functional purpose. Drawing inspiration from the zipper pencil cases of my childhood, I made the bag with multiple panels connected by zippers. This allows it to be easily foldable into a compact size when unzipped. The bag also offers various styling options for versatility. It can be attached to a harness or belt with clasps, as shown in my photos, or be made smaller to function as a handbag or sling bag. I originally designed this bag as part of my graduate collection of the same name which tells the story of four insects that decorate themselves with feminine and frou frou bows in spite of their creepy and grotesque appearance, making a statement on body neutrality and rejecting the cliché of ‘lipstick on a pig.’
