From Plane to Volume is an innovative design project that explores the intersection of traditional cultural symbolism and modern functional aesthetics. The project is centered on the Deconstructed Rhombus pattern, a digital reimagining of the classic Taiwanese "Fang-Sheng" (方勝) motif, which traditionally symbolizes eternity and elegance. By applying parametric design logic, the pattern transitions from a dense, structural core at the base to a loose, expansive lattice toward the top, ensuring both load-bearing stability and dramatic visual transformation. The core concept revolves around a "Zero-Waste, Single-Plane"construction method. A circular 2.0mm black vegetable-tanned leather sheet serves as the primary "exoskeleton," laser-cut to allow a seamless transition from a two-dimensional decorative wall piece into a three-dimensional functional tote bag through the force of gravity. To elevate the piece from a simple mesh bag to a high-end design object, a Hybrid Material Plaiting technique is employed. A high-density, bright orange nylon lining is integrated behind the black leather, creating a sharp, "Cyberpunk-inspired" contrast. When the bag is lifted, the leather lattice stretches to reveal the vibrant orange interior, mimicking an organic breathing motion. This project challenges the boundaries between home decor and wearable fashion, offering a sustainable yet avant-garde solution for the modern urban lifestyle.
