Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas

I am Maria Fernanda Nabak, a student at the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas (PUC-Campinas), where I study Fashion Design. My interests focus on the critical analysis of fashion, exploring the relationship between clothing, art, and cultural expression. Throughout my studies, I have been developing projects that connect theoretical concepts with creative proposals, with an emphasis on visual identity, narrative, and aesthetic experimentation.

The collapse of identity, under continuous industrial production

Category: Design*

Competitions: Brazil

This project explores the relationship between the human body and the systems that control it, through a narrative inspired by the underworld of the musical Hadestown. In this context, the underworld is understood as a space where time and life no longer belong to the individual, reflecting a logic of continuous production. The proposal connects to the transformations initiated by the Industrial Revolution and their impact on contemporary society, marked by constant acceleration and the pressure of productivity. The piece represents a body in the process of losing its identity, where elements such as silencing, fragmentation, and mechanization reveal the gradual replacement of the human by function. It is a reflection on a state of existence in which living and functioning become indistinguishable.

Working with our partners at Arts Thread to develop lifelong learning and career opportunities for students of fashion and design. Our partnership provides the opportunity to compete on a world stage, participate in industry led workshops, set up an outstanding portfolio and gain access to the resources that will kickstart careers in fashion and design.
