Le Huynh Pham

Vietnam

My name is Phạm Lê Huỳnh, and I am a fashion designer currently studying Fashion Design at Ton Duc Thang University. I am passionate about living and creating with freedom. For me, fashion is not just about aesthetics—it is a way to express identity, challenge norms, and explore personal truths. I constantly push myself beyond limits, embracing challenges as opportunities to grow. Whether it’s experimenting with new materials or developing unconventional silhouettes, I believe that discomfort fuels innovation. Freedom shapes both my lifestyle and creative process. I resist rigid structures and prefer spaces where creativity is unbounded—where I can take risks, fail boldly, and rise stronger. This spirit is reflected in my designs, which are often raw, experimental, and deeply personal.Studying at Ton Duc Thang University allows me to refine my technical skills while staying true to my creative instincts. I view each project not just as an assignment, but as a chance to explore a new part of myself. As I continue this journey, I hope to collaborate with others who value fearless storytelling through fashion. I believe that design can provoke thought, stir emotion, and offer a form of liberation—not just for the wearer, but for the creator as well. To me, fashion is not about following trends—it’s about following truth.

I chose the craft of water hyacinth weaving as the main inspiration for my collection because it is one of the traditional handicrafts that strongly reflects the cultural identity of Vietnam’s Southwest region. This is a place where people live in harmony with rivers and nature. Water hyacinth is often associated with the simple, rustic lifestyle of the riverine communities, but through the skillful hands of artisans, it becomes a material for creating durable, practical, and aesthetically refined products. This imagery evokes in me the essence of Vietnamese women—seemingly delicate and gentle on the outside, yet embodying an enduring vitality and an innate adaptability within. Through molding techniques and cord weaving, I aim to explore leather as a material to emulate the texture of traditional basketry, while simultaneously portraying the female form as a “living craftwork.” This collection is not only a tribute to a fading local craft, but also my way of weaving Vietnam’s cultural narrative into the language of contemporary fashion—where heritage is preserved yet reimagined through a modern perspective and personal expression.
