Skin That Remember

This piece is an emotional vessel—It carries memories of the past and symbolizes a process of self-renewal.Each layer of leather is like a second skin, preserving the warmth of touch and the traces of emotions that once passed through. Moments of being held, embraced, and understood may remain unspoken, yet they are deeply woven into the texture.I use leather as a language, stitching and layering it to reconstruct a structure—to create a form of silent companionship, not for display, but for documentation. It records how we draw closer to ourselves, and how we begin to converse with our emotions. When we are willing to listen to the body’s response,we realize it is in fact an emotional archive—not only storing past experiences, but also continuously reacting to inner transformation. Thus, leather is not just a material;it is a medium of remembrance and continuation. When cherished and used with care, it too remembers the feelings and choices we once made. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In my recent creative process, I began to truly understand myself. It was no longer just about whether the work was good enough, but about learning how to face my own emotions, pressure, and anxiety. I’ve always been someone who strives for perfection— the more focused I become, the more easily my emotions spiral out of control. But when I finally slowed down, stitching memory piece by piece, it felt as if I was gradually sewing together the fragments of my feelings. And in that moment, I realized: sometimes, we don’t have to be strong all the time. Allowing ourselves to feel, to slow down, is also a kind of tenderness. This wasn’t just a creative experience. It was a journey of getting closer to myself, and learning to have a dialogue with my emotions. I’ve started to learn how to make peace with myself.
