I wanted to explore the idea of the bag being an extension of ourselves, the items that we put inside it are a reflection of who we are. I have explored this concept by giving the bag subtle human characteristics such as folded skin textures and organic shapes by researching abstract sculptures that take inspiration from human form. I was interested by the idea of shifting attitudes about the value of our clothes/accessories, the goal is to make the idea of ‘disposable’ clothes undesirable. Therefore the bag is something that is made to be valued and cared for like a second skin and becomes a part of the wearer and their history. The bag encompasses the idea of sustainability through longevity, the bag can be worn in multiple ways and folded to change the shape.

Working with our partners at Arts Thread to develop lifelong learning and career opportunities for students of fashion and design. Our partnership provides the opportunity to compete on a world stage, participate in industry led workshops, set up an outstanding portfolio and gain access to the resources that will kickstart careers in fashion and design.
