Why do people always feel the urge to stretch when they wake up? This work explores the unconscious bodily action that exists between sleeping and waking. After long periods of sleep, the body gradually becomes stiff, and pandiculation acts as a spontaneous resetting mechanism. Through stretching and extension, people reactivate muscle tension and bodily awareness. Therefore, I transformed “pandiculation” into a wearable piece that can only return to its original state through pulling and stretching. The work requires tension and extension to reposition the muscles, symbolizing how the body regains balance through pandiculation. Through this work, I hope not only to remind people of the importance of this everyday action, but also to create a sense of visual empathy, allowing viewers to unconsciously feel the urge to stretch when seeing the work being extended and reset.
