"I HAVE A CRASH ON YOU"

I HAVE A CRUSH ON YOU – This is a slang that describes a strong yet temporary and unstable feeling of love. The project showcases a wedding attire collection, critiquing the duality of the institution of marriage from a cynical and iconic perspective. Inspired by wedding events and an anthropological study of wedding fashion throughout history, the collection presents a unique view. The institution of marriage perfectly illustrates the clash between the human desire for self-fulfillment through marriage, love, and unity, and the aspiration for destruction, reflected in the fascist culture that has developed around wedding ceremonies. This culture dictates to every little girl the perfect moment of individual happiness that promises eternal security and everlasting joy. "Anthropological research shows that during times of severe crisis and national depression, the icon of wedding ceremonies paradoxically becomes very popular, especially in fashion." "Our world is undergoing fundamental social change, and we are the generation leading this revolution." In the “I HAVE CRASH ON YOU” collection, I convey the emotional detachment of modern society from reality and examine our generation's ability to exist in times of crisis. The collection explores how easily we have relinquished our emotions in the transition to a hyper-capitalist lifestyle during times of war. The visual language of the collection draws inspiration from extravagant, over-the-top, and kitschy wedding culture, contrasted with military aesthetics. The familiar wedding attire has been transferred to a speculative space where it is re-examined materially and formally to explore if armor can truly be glamorous ("glamour armor"). "To achieve this result, I used a molding technique with water and leather to imitate industrial and military materials through natural textiles. This created sculptural silhouettes that dictate the shape to the human body, emphasizing the generic nature of humans against the ceremonial garment imposed by society. The color palette is monochromatic, a faded memory of once vibrant and sparkling colors." Both clothing sets are made of 100% leather shenhavbar.com
